Our memories are powerful things, but often they can become foggy with time and it will be the beautiful photographs captured through your life that stand to remind us of the important events, so when it comes to your wedding, possibly the most important day of your life, why take risks on the person capturing the scene.
Now I wouldn’t want to embarrass friends, family or random acquaintances whose wedding photographs I have seen, but there do seem to be quite a few who have had professionals taking pictures that I myself am capable of taking. And while I am a competent photographer weddings are not my game and I would expect more than I could give.
A small fraction of the entire gamut of the art called photography; wedding photography offers a rewarding career to a person who has artistic orientation. As the term implies, it is all about clicking pictures on the day of the wedding. Someone with a flair for photography can find this career as very satisfying. The events leading up to the main function, the actual marriage and the events after the marriage are all covered by the wedding photographer.
As wedding is THE most important day in the lives of both the groom and the bride, they want to have a wedding photographer who understands clearly what is expected of him and can deliver on his promise. There is a lot of sentimental attachment for the wedding events in the minds of the groom and especially the bride, and they want everything going as per their plans. They see to it that this important aspect of their marriage, is not neglected and they get an album full of beautiful pictures which they can relive their memories later on and which should be a source of happiness to them in the times to come.
One of the many subjects that you will tackle as an amateur photographer is wedding photography. Here are some techniques that will help you to succeed in this.
When doing wedding photography, I find that it is really helpful if you are using two cameras. Source one that you can use – either by borrowing or getting an extra one that you have – and fit it with lenses that are different from the first one. Get a wide angle lens and put it on one camera. This is perfect if you are taking candid pictures or shooting in tight areas. The other camera should have a longer lens; go as high as 200mm if you can.
Remember that when doing wedding photography, you need to be bold with taking the pictures but you must never be an obstruction. You have to be bold at taking a particular shot that you think is lovely. At the same time you must try to never disrupt what is going on. Remember that this is a special day for the couple and you are only there to capture the memories. You get the chance to ask for all the poses you want once you are already taking the formal shots. Think about the placings and the poses that you think will make the picture work.
Sure, there is no doubt, what to choose: a professional photographer or family relative who is an amateur photographer. While that family member, who was chosen as photographer wouldn’t be able to enjoy the wedding, because of the work and as amateur photographer he is not able to see things that matters, a professional photographer would be there to take professional photos, because he knows what is the most important in wedding photography and therefore the results are obviously different. Your photographer has to capture every lovely view, every smile, every laughter.
There is no second chance to take really good wedding photos, it is once and for all. Therefore it is necessarily to know how to get a good wedding photographer. Most of photographers do not even bother with wedding photography, because wedding photography is one of the most difficult branches in photography. Good wedding photographers are those, who love their work and are able to take photos, which are telling true stories. The photographer should have a unique style. The photos have to be creative and fully charged with emotions. But there is not only the photographer who matters. Essentially is also a good planning for the wedding.
